Matthew 28:19 Go into all the world and make disciples of all the nations.
Operation Christmas Child (part of Samaritan’s Purse Foundation) is a ministry that spreads the gospel around the world to children through gift filled shoe boxes. Each fall we collect items to put in the shoeboxes and in November we have opportunities for the congregation to help pack shoeboxes. Prayer is an important part of this ministry. We pray as we pack, people pray for the entire continuum of the ministry, and we pray over the boxes as a church once they are packed. In the Atlanta area Crossroads is known for packing an admirable number of boxes for a smaller church.
The core committee works year-round on publicity, acquiring items, praying and plans for that year’s shoebox party. The youth group also works year-round on making items to include in the boxes, folding the boxes and filling the shoeboxes with items.
After the shoeboxes leave Crossroads, they go to a processing center here in Atlanta. There the boxes are double checked for proper contents and prepared for shipping. A group of volunteers from Crossroads goes to work at the warehouse each year. If you want to be a part of this ministry in any way, watch for announcements starting in August or contact Nena Simonetti, Susan Small or Sharon Gregory.
