Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Colossians 1: 9-12
9We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
This group began in 2004 as a response to several in the Presbyterian Women’s Dorcas Group who wanted to understand and learn about the unity of the Bible. Most had heard sermons or had done Bible study on different parts of the Scripture, but felt at a loss to know how each part is reflected in other books of the Bible. Nancy Scott was asked to lead this groups through an overview of the entire Bible. So they have been at it ever since.
Starting with 6 members, the group has grown and changed over the years so there are now 11 in the group. They studied through the Old Testament week by week from September through May in about 8 years. The group is now working through the New Testament and will begin Titus and then II Timothy in September. In our New Testament studies, we have used Bible study guides which everyone purchases.
While the group was mainly for women, several men have joined as well. The group meets from 11:00-12:30 on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday mornings in the Parlor. For the last 2 years it has been a hybrid group with several meeting in the Parlor while others join via Zoom.
