Appalachia Service Project 2016

asp2

ASP offers transformational volunteer opportunities for adults and youth throughout the year.  More than 17,000 volunteers from around the country served with ASP in rural Central Appalachia last year, repairing homes for low-income families.  But ASP is more than just a building program. Yes, Appalachia’s poorest families urgently need your help, but they can help change your life, too.

This year our theme was Handiwork: Created to serve based on Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.”

We left for Jamestown, TN on June 26th.  We stayed at Allardt Elementary School. We had the pleasure of serving Jerry and his granddaughter Destiny.  We spent the week installing insulation and siding to their home.  Our teens learned about serving others, stepping outside of your comfort zone and perseverance.
