Acts 11:22-24
22 News of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23 When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad; and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose;
24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large company was added to the Lord.
Our class is not designed around following a set curriculum or lesson plan. Currently, we are studying the entire Bible from an archaeological perspective. Our goal is to enter into the study of the bible, not as a visitor who looks at the lives of the characters within and marvels at their amazing ability to lead godly lives. Instead, we are striving to show the real human side of those used in the bible to do God’s will. We look at and discuss their very human sinfulness, God’s judgment of their sin, and how many of the most admirable characters failed so often to live up to the righteous Godly lives we now so admire them for.
We examine how faithful and patient God was with them despite their many failures to trust Him and to lead the Godly lives they were called to.
Simply stated the goal in studying the bible in this way to help the class attendees to:
